A DORSET man has been told to pay £409 for dropping a cigarette in Salisbury city centre last summer.
Matthew Crocker, whose address was given as Maple Close in Shaftesbury, was charged with throwing down, leaving or otherwise depositing litter at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Tuesday January 4.

The defendant was subsequently found guilty via the single justice procedure.
The incident related to Crocker throwing or dropping a cigarette butt in Silver Street in Salisbury and leaving it there on September 4 last year.
As a result the defendant was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £115.
Crocker has been told to pay the £409 total by February 1.
