A NEW builders merchant hit the bullseye when it invited darts champ Scott “Scotty Dog” Mitchell to do the honours at its opening.

Visitors had the chance to compete against the Lakeside World Darts Champion and PDC Tour Card Holder when New Milton Sand and Ballast opened at Wallisdown Road, Poole.

Visitors were given food and drink and there were prizes, from drill sets to wheelbarrows, for anyone who scored a bullseye at the darts board.

Family-owned New Milton Sand and Ballast already has a builders merchant in New Milton. It has been supplying aggregates, concrete, building materials and waste services in Dorset and Hampshire for more than 85 years.

It operates three quarries, five depots and one recycling centre.

Matt Lock, sales director from New Milton Sand and Ballast, said: “We are pleased to be opening a new branch in Poole. Builders merchants are a natural extension of our business as unlike many of our competitors, we don’t need to fully rely on third parties.

“From operating sand and gravel quarries, to producing our own concrete and offering waste services, we can give our customers an ‘end to end’ service. As a result, many local tradespeople will enjoy lower cost goods – with far less risk of shortage when sourcing stock.”

The new store also has a drive-through option, along with under cover timber storage, loose load delivery and skip hire. The product selection covers building materials, equipment and supplies, garden and landscaping and tools and timber.

Opening week promotions and offers continue until Friday, January 14, and a food van will remain on the site.
