MORE than 800 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Dorset within the last 24-hour period, according to the latest statistics.

Latest Government figures show 810 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Tuesday, December 21.

This brings the total cases in the whole of the county since the start of the pandemic to 120,214.

For the Dorset Council area 327 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, a total 49,551.

The rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 2,164 cases, with a case rate of 569.8 per 100,000 people.

A total of 483 new cases were recorded across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council area in the past 24 hours.

As a result that brings the total of cases for the conurbation to 70,663.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP area is 3,042 cases, with a case rate of 766.3 per 100,000 people.

For the New Forest area there was a total of 257 new cases which makes a total of 23,376 since the start of the pandemic.

The rolling seven-day total for the area is 1,222 cases, with a case rate of 680.2 per 100,000 people.

Across the whole of the UK there have been 90,629 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, which in total makes 11,453,121 cases since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
