From stage to dance and BMX, we’ve rounded up a list of brilliant events taking place across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in 2022.

January

  • UK Dance Championships

Mon 17 – Thu 20 Jan 2022 at the Bournemouth International Centre

An elegant and glamorous event featuring the world’s top Professional Ballroom and Latin Dancers.

Bournemouth Echo: The UK Ballroom and Latin Dance Championships take place at the Bournemouth International Centre.The UK Ballroom and Latin Dance Championships take place at the Bournemouth International Centre.

The UK Open Championships is one of the dance worlds three major events in the UK and features the highest calibre of dancers, all competing to take home this famous title.

Qualification rounds take place in the morning and afternoon sessions, with the evenings hosting the finals. 

On Wednesday and Thursday, the six finalists of the main events will perform encapsulating solo dances, all performed to the wonderful music of Ross Mitchell, his band and singers.

February

  • Bowie Experience

Saturday, February 12 at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre

Bowie Experience is a spectacular concert celebrating the sound and vision of David Bowie. A must see for all Bowie fans, the latest production features all the hits from A to Ziggy.

  • BSO: John Williams: The Master

Saturday, March 12 at the Lighthouse in Poole

A spectacular concert celebrating the music of the most prolific and successful film-score composer ever. Many of the most popular films of recent times owe much of their success to his amazing music.

  • Groove Armada

Thursday, April 14, at the O2 Academy Bournemouth

Andy Cato and Tom Findlay - aka Groove Armada - one of electronic music’s most innovative, influential, and recognisable acts, head out on their final chapter as a full live band in celebration of 25 years of touring. This will be one of the last opportunities to see the band in full force with their career spanning hits and seminal classics.

  • Ian Waite and Vincent Simone….Act Two

Saturday, May 14, at the Regent Centre in Christchurch

The Ballroom Boys double act Ian Waite and Vincent Simone are set to return with their brand new show - Ian Waite and Vincent Simone…Act Two, after the roaring success of their five  star rated 2019 tour.

The fabulous Strictly Come Dancing stars promise another wonderful evening of old-fashioned variety - dance, comedy and song.

With beautiful costumes, gorgeous lighting and world class routines, including the Viennese Waltz, the Foxtrot, the Rhumba… and of course… there has to be another incredible Argentine Tango routine by the master! The boys will be joined by their stunning dance partners and a world class singer.

In this, her sixth international tour, you’ll learn about what happens when your mouth seals shut, how to throw poo over a wall, trying to lose weight but only losing the tip of your finger, a surprisingly funny smear test, and how truly awful a floatation tank can actually be. 

Sarah has spent the last year writing jokes and growing her backside. She can’t wait to get back on the road and make you laugh.

July

  • McFly 

Sunday, 17 July at the Chewton Glen Hotel and Spa

BRIT Award winners McFly took their name from Marty McFly of the 'Back To The Future' films and have had 19 hit singles including 7 UK No.1s in their long time together.

August

  • British BMX Championships

August 27 to August 28 at Bournemouth BMX Track, Iford Lane

Bournemouth will see the top BMX riders from around the UK descend on its shores over the August Bank Holiday weekend next year, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August, as it hosts the prestigious finale to the 2022 British BMX Series.

BCP Council is partnering with Bournemouth BMX Club, one of the oldest and longest running BMX clubs in the country, to host this major event for British Cycling in the UK's top summer tourist resort.

This BMX facility at Ilford Lane is the only racetrack facility in Dorset and when not being used by the club, is available for public use by the growing number of people interested in this exciting sport.

Bournemouth BMX Club was established in 1982, and next year’s event marks 40 years of BMX racing, with the centrepiece of the national series visiting the town for the first time since 1994.

September

  • Don McLean 50th Anniversary of American Pie

Sunday, September 18 at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre

The American Troubadour has had Top 20 singles worldwide with American Pie, Vincent, Cryin, And I Love You So, Wonderful Baby, Since I Don’t Have you, It’s Just The Sun and If We Try.

In 1971, Don McLean released American Pie as a double-A single and it charted within a month. Interest from the media and public sent the single to #1 in the U.S. and Don to international stardom. Despite decades of attempted interpretations, Don has always remained enigmatic as to the song’s meaning and the mystery remains to this day.

October

  • The Four Tops

Friday, October 7, at the Bournemouth International Centre

Motown legends The Four Tops and The Temptations, return to Bournemouth in 2021 bringing with them the magic of a golden era that continues to inspire musicians around the globe.

  • The Zoots: Sounds of the Seventies

  • Cinderella

December 7 to 31 at the Lighthouse in Poole 

You shall go to the ball as the classic rags to riches fairy-tale comes to life.
