For generations the Beales Christmas parade brought the town to a standstill.
The tradition of a procession started in 1912, when Cyril Beale became the Father Christmas to arrive anywhere by plane.
Pictured here in 1955 with a giant turkey, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and tree parade down Old Christchurch Road.
The last parade was in 1965, after which it fell victim to a combination of factors, including a controversial new employment tax.
