THE festive fun continues across Dorset this weekend with a host of events taking place as we hurtle towards Christmas.

Here are just some of the events taking place across the area on Saturday and Sunday.

Bournemouth Echo: Save The Children Parade WimborneSave The Children Parade Wimborne

Wimborne’s popular Save The Children Parade returns on Saturday, December 11. The event will feature floats, live music and an appearance from Father Christmas. The procession sets off from Brook Lane at 2.15pm, continuing to Wimborne Square where it will join the rest of the festivities. There will be music from the Wimborne Ukulele Band, Dorset Youth Marching and Wimborne Choral Society, with entertainment from a small funfair and Morris dancers also scheduled.

Father Christmas will be wearing his golden boots when he visits Wareham on Sunday. The big man will be taking part in Wareham’s Christmas Parade. Street entertainment starts at 4pm with the Christmas parade setting off from 4.45pm. Then Santa will be making his arrival at 5.15pm before he greets people in his grotto from 5.30pm in the museum at the town hall entrance via East Street. There will also be refreshments in the Town Hall in association with Sainsburys.

Moors Valley Country Park hosts a Festive Fun Day between 10.30am and 4.30pm. Visitors will be able to get into the festive spirit with pre-bookable children’s crafts including party hats and tree decorations, stalls with local festive gifts.

Get your skates on for a roller disco at Sir David English in East Way, Bournemouth, on Saturday, December 11, between 2pm and 4pm. There will be music, disco and laser lights.

An evening carol concert will be held at Citygate Church in Holdenhurst Road between 7pm and 8.30pm on Sunday. After the concert, there will be a live lounge band, mulled fruit punch and mince pies. Those unable to attend, will be able to watch the concert on the church’s YouTube channel.

Bournemouth’s Russell-Cotes museum will be hosting a new way for visitors to discover an enjoy artwork on Saturday. A Tour of Art and Music will encourage people to engage their senses and reflect on the music and artworks on display. Music will be courtesy of musical duo Czechmate.

A Conscious Christmas event takes place at Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre on Sunday, December 12, encouraging visitors to shop more consciously and give preloved items a new home. A selection of local eco businesses will be in attendance and people are able to bring and buy preloved and new items.

Bournemouth Arcade Christmas Market takes place this Saturday and Sunday. There will be a host of local traders exhibition their wares with a range of products for shoppers to browse and buy.

Santa’s Grotto returns this Christmas to Boscombe's Sovereign Centre, thanks to the Rotary clubs of Westbourne, and Boscombe and Southbourne.
Santa will be arriving at the shopping centre on his new Santa Sleigh float just before 10am on Saturday, December 11 when the winter wonderland grotto will also open for visits.
