As Storm Barra hits Dorset, several areas have been left without power.

A yellow weather warning is in place for the duration of Tuesday and into Wednesday as Storm Barra arrives from the west.

And the wild weather is already having an impact on homes in the area including several power outages.

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting two postcodes affected by power cuts around the Ringwood area.

The outage was reported at 12.53pm and power has now been restored.

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting two postcodes affected by power cuts around the Christchurch area.

The outage was reported at 2.09pm. This incident has been resolved.

Power cut BH21

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting three postcodes affected by power cuts around the Wimborne area.

The outage was reported at 11.34am. This incident has been resolved.

Power cut BH20

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting two postcodes affected by power cuts around the Wareham area.

The outage was reported at 1.27pm. This incident has been resolved.

Power cut DT6

Western Power is reporting five postcodes affected by power cuts around the Bridport area.
The outage was reported at 11.26am. This incident has been resolved.

Power cut DT9

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting 88 postcodes affected by power cuts around the Sherborne area.

The outage was reported at 5am on Wednesday. It is hoped power will be restored by 8am.

Power cut DT1

Twelve postcodes are currently without power in the Dorchester area, Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting.

Power was lost at around 3am on Wednesday, and it is hoped it will be restored by 7am.

Power cut BH15

Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks is reporting seven postcodes affected by power cuts around the Poole area.

The outage was reported at 5am on Wednesday. It is hoped power will be restored by 9am.

How severe is Storm Barra?

The Met Office warned that Storm Barra could lead to power cuts as heavy winds hit the UK.

Frank Saunders is a Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office. He said: “Strong winds arriving across the west through Tuesday morning, will spread inland and reach eastern areas through the afternoon and early evening.

“Gusts of 45-50 mph are expected widely, with 60-70 mph in exposed coastal locations. The strongest winds will ease across inland areas into the overnight period.
