A SMALL extension is being asked for at Wimborne Fire Station to create a room for cleaning breathing apparatus.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service says the existing station in Hanham Road is in need of the extra space and the building of a single storey extension will help ease the pressure.

Plans submitted to Dorset Council show the proposed new building in brick to match the rest of the station with a flat felt roof and white UPVC casement windows.

It will only add five square metres to the existing space of 260square metres. Public comments on the proposed extension remain open until December 16th – reference 21/1729 on the planning section of the Dorset Council website.

The application is expected to be decided by a planning officer rather than go before a committee of councillors for a decision.
