Gavin Mannering’s father Ian Mannering died in June 2020 of kidney failure.

He was a ‘huge lover’ of Christmas lights and would always put on a display for his family.

Gavin set up his own display for the first time last Christmas but due to social distancing measures they couldn’t raise money for charity.

This year, Gavin has been planning his own charity Christmas display for the National Kidney Federation.

The display is dedicated to his father, who he described as “such a great man loved by all”.

By decorating his house, Gavin is hoping “to raise money for a great cause and spread some Christmas cheer whilst doing it”.

His wife Clair says he has been planning the display since February and building it outside their house since June.

Gavin has been documenting his progress on his Facebook page ‘Dorset's Dewlish Close Christmas Lights’, which has amassed more than 500 followers.

The family switched on their Christmas lights on Sunday, which will be available to see between approximately 5.30pm and 10pm every evening in Dewlish Close, Canford Heath.

Gavin said: “This year is bigger and better so if you can spare some change it would be going to a great cause. Please come and enjoy the lights as my dad would have.”
