A YELLOW weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for ice tomorrow morning across Dorset - with slippery surfaces to be expected.

The warning covers the majority of Dorset, south west and large parts of Wales between midnight and 10am tomorrow morning, Thursday December 2.

A spokesman for Met Office said: "An area of rain, sleet and snow is expected to move south across much of Wales and parts of western England on Thursday morning.

"With temperatures falling ahead the rain, sleet and snow arriving, some icy stretches are likely to form on frozen ground. Whilst some snow will fall, this will be mainly on higher ground, although perhaps to lower levels for a time in the Welsh Marches and parts of the West Country. Only small amounts are expected with perhaps 1-2 cm of slushy accumulations in places."

Forecasters have warned that there be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and the potential for icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The Met Office says that some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
