AN opportunity has arisen for a business or community group to take over the lease of a vacant property on Weymouth Beach.

Weymouth Town Council is seeking feedback to determine the level of interest in an empty section of the Beach Operations Building, on the beach near the Kings Statue.

The vacant section is on the left-hand side of the building and measures 2.44 metres wide and 4.88 metres deep.

Due to the location of the Beach Operations Building, the council has said that any proposals for would need to be considerate to other license holders and tenants currently operating in this area of the beach.

The authority is now running a survey in a bid to determine the level of interest, the type of operational activities proposed, and the potential value of the site.

"The results of the survey will be used to help the council decide the future direction of this asset and any procurement exercise that may follow," a spokesman said.

"Please note that the council reserves the right to choose not to proceed with any proposals or procurement processes. Alongside this, any proposal that is submitted may also be subject to planning permission."

To arrange a site visit to review the building, or for further information, email the council at: procurement@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk
