Trojan

Bournemouth Echo: Trojan is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCATrojan is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCA

Breed: Alaskan Malamute
Age: Approximately 11 years

Trojan has been dubbed "slimmer of the year" after arriving at the centre last November, matted, dirty and weighing 101kg. He's now almost half that weight.

He doesn't ask for much in life - good company, regular grooming, and belly rubs plus a few short walks a day, he would be just as happy plodding around a decent sized garden on occasion.

He is an older dog but certainly has no intention of 'retiring' anytime soon.

Trojan walks very well on the lead but if something takes his fancy, he has the strength to pull towards it.

He prefers the company of well-behaved and respectful doggy friends, and it is felt he would be happier to be the only dog in his new home.

Trojan may be ok to live with older children and would be better suited to a home where there will be someone there most of the time.

Trojan is arthritic and suffers with thyroid problems which means he will require ongoing treatment in the home.

Dotty

Bournemouth Echo: Dotty is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCADotty is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCA

Breed: Crossbreed/unknown
Age: Approximately 8 years

Dotty is a fun, bright and energetic lady who loves fuss and attention, treats and biscuits.

She will chase after tennis balls and bring them back to be rethrown, is good at using the agility equipment, knows some basic commands and loves to learn new tricks.

Dotty was kept locked in a room away from family members, yet she has been found to be very affectionate, wanting to sit with people and be close.

She has shown that she is not keen on being left so we are looking for a home where she will have company for most of the day with people prepared to help her to learn that it is ok to have short periods of time on her own.

Unfortunately, Dotty is not keen to interact with other dogs and will need to be kept on lead when on walks. Dotty is comfortable wearing a muzzle and this will need to continue when she goes home.

She cannot be re homed with cats or small animals and although it may be ok to live with children aged 16 years and up, it is best she is not walked by them.

Tia

Bournemouth Echo: Tia is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCATia is being cared for at Ashley Heath RSPCA

Breed: Shar-Pei
Age: Approximately 4 years

Tia is an affectionate dog who gets excited to see you and smothers you in kisses.

She travels well, sleeps through the night and is toilet trained.

Potential adopters need to be aware that she has been diagnosed with an ongoing ear condition that will require lifelong treatment.

Tia would be best suited to someone that has experience with her breed, although this is not essential, and will need a home free from children and other pets.

Tia is eager to learn, and staff have been working hard on her training which adopters should continue in the home.

Tia has recently been having sleep overs with a member of staff who confirms she is easy going in the home but in the garden hunts for wildlife. Therefore, we are willing to consider people who live in a 1st or 2nd floor flat for this dog.
