GRITTERS will be out across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole tonight ahead of forecasts of sub-zero temperatures in some areas.

BCP Council has confirmed its highways teams will be going out to treat roads from 7pm on Thursday, November 25.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "A frost is forecast tonight and road surface temperatures are expected to fall below zero on some routes.

"Our gritters are prepped and ready to go out from 7pm this evening to treat the roads.

"Please take extra caution and drive carefully."

The Met Office is forecasting lows of 3C overnight, which could feel like 0C, in Bournemouth, while Christchurch and Poole has predicted low temperatures of 2C.

As part of preparations for the winter season, BCP Council stocks 2,800 tonnes of road salt and prepares 177 grit bins in specific locations.
