A MAN has been charged after a serious crash in North Dorset.

Police officers responded to a report at 7.27am on Tuesday, June 8 of a collision on an unclassified road near to Keepers Cottage, in the area of Gainsborough Hill south of Sherborne.

The collision, which involved a silver Toyota and a blue Subaru, saw both drivers sustain injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a local man aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries while the Subaru driver, a woman aged in her 50s from the Bradford Abbas area, sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services responded to the incident and an examination of the scene was carried out. It was reopened shortly before 10am.

Following enquiries, Christopher William Thomas Rowe, aged 56 and of Sherborne, has been charged with an offence of driving without due care and attention.

He has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 30 where he will enter a plea.
