A BIKE thief was stopped by police as he tried to make a run for it in Bournemouth.
The Bournemouth University neighbourhood policing team were on patrol at the Wallisdown campus when a suspicious male suddenly attempted to make off on a bike.
Officers quickly put an end to his escape plan and the stolen bike was returned to its owner - before they had even realised it had been stolen.

A man is now assisting police with enquiries.
The police have issued a reminder that some bike locks are stronger than others and that weak locks can be cut quickly by thieves.
