THERE are just days to go until Bournemouth’s Christmas Tree Wonderland returns for the first time in two years.

From November 19 until January 2 2022, visitors will be treated to a range of entertainment, light displays, sweet treats, ice-skating and more as organisers unveil their final plans for this year.

Last year’s event was not able to go ahead due to social distancing measures in place at the time.

This year, the Christmas trail will follow its usual route from Lansdowne to the Triangle and Bournemouth Square, through the Lower Gardens and down to the seafront.

It will feature more than 100 festive-themed illuminations, from a giant Santa in Commercial Road to a 10m high colour changing tree in Beale Place and 5m trees of light and parcels in Westover Road.

At the heart of the trail, visitors will be able to walk through the popular Bournemouth Wonderland Tree.

Ice skating will return to the Lower Gardens where families can try their best Dancing on Ice moves and enjoy a drink at the Moguls Bar from 19 November.

In the square, the traditional Alpine market will return selling handmade gifts and sweet treats from 10am till late in the evening.

The nearby Alpine Bar will also be opening daily from 11am till late, to supply mulled wine, spiced cider, hot chocolates and more.

Councillor Beverley Dunlop, cabinet member for culture and vibrant places, said: “Christmas is an important time for families and friends to come together and enjoy the festive celebrations.

“That is why so much work has gone into ensuring Bournemouth is the place to visit for something extra special. There are more than 30,000 programmable lights on the Wonderland Tree and the large Tree of Light – there really is nothing else like it in the country. So, don’t miss out, come and see this amazing festival for yourself.

“Eat, drink, skate, buy those unique gifts, have fun and take in the magical sights of the town.”

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “Sponsoring this year’s Christmas Tree Wonderland are Bournemouth’s Town Centre and Coastal BIDs, Yellow Buses and our partner sponsor Chase, with further support from South Western Railway and PayByPhone.
