WAGGY Tails sanctuary is looking for extra-special forever homes willing and able to give extra-special care to five remarkable dogs.

Saved from inadequate homes or rescued from the pound, these five happy-go-lucky dogs are in need of supportive owners who will be able to cater to their needs.

Sanctuary manager Nicky Chapman said: “At the end of the day knowing you’re doing the best for these dogs is so rewarding.

“As much as we can provide them with lots of things here and lots of love and attention, nothing is better than being in their own home.

“A lot of dogs have come from very sad circumstances where their owners have died or they’ve been strays like Lily, there are all sorts of reasons for them to come in - some sadder than others."

Whether you've looked after a rescue dog before or not, the sanctuary will help to match you with a dog that's right for you and vice versa.

No dog owners are left to their own devices, with Waggy Tails providing a range of support from financial, to home set-up and even dog behaviourists.

Nicky said: “We try and match the right dog to the right owner, we wouldn’t put any of these dogs with an inexperienced owner, but we offer lots of help and support to all owners here.

“We’ve got behaviourists, our shop, we can help with vets fees and things like that too so you’re not alone.”

Buddy

Bournemouth Echo: BuddyBuddy

Friendly and loveable boy Buddy is a one-year-old lurcher who has had a lot of upheaval in his short life.

He is cheeky and playful but can be quite shy when he meets people and would benefit from training and socialisation.

He can alo be a little hand shy which the sanctuary believe may indicate that he has been mistreated at some point. With a little time and patience he can be very affectionate once he knows he can trust you.

Buddy is looking for a forever home with someone who knows and understands his breed and will be willing to work with him to help him become more settled.

Princess

Bournemouth Echo:

Special girl Princess is looking for a loving and patient home with owners that will give her lots of love and attention.

She is a wonderful lady who loves her cuddles, belly rubs and playing - however, due to a back injury a couple of years ago she has trouble with her rear legs.

She is still able to walk though she can be a little uncoordinated and sometimes her legs give way under her. With a little encouragement she will get herself back up and keep going though sadly she will never walk normally.

In her previous home she didn't get much exercise which hasn't helped her, though with her foster home she is being kept active and has come on leaps and bounds.

Ralph

Bournemouth Echo:

Cheeky chappy Ralph is a five-year-old pug who is a bundle of joy. Sadly he came to Waggy Tails with severe breathing difficulties and has since bravely undergone surgery to open his airways and his breathing has improved.

Full of energy, Ralph doesn't understand that he is limited due to his breathing so is raring-to-go and will need a home that will keep him calm and won't get him over-excited.

Ralph absolutely loves everybody, he adores cuddles and gets on well with over dogs too.

Dave

Bournemouth Echo: DaveDave

Do you have a home with a big sofa that Dave can share?

Two-year-old Dave is a large mastiff cross who has a lot of love to give to someone who will give him a chance.

This beautiful boy loves human contact, cuddles and lots of walks though he doesn't know his own strength or realise how big he is which some people can find intimidating.

He needs a strong owner that has experience with large dogs that is looking for a new best friend as goofy Dave can certainly fill that role.

Lilly

Bournemouth Echo: LillyLilly

Lilly is a small and stunning five-year-old Rottweiler cross who came to Waggy Tails from the pound.

She is a highly intelligent and gifted dog who needs an experience and sensible owner, ideally someone who has an active lifestyle that needs a dog to accompany them.

Her training will need to be ongoing as she knew very little when she came to the sanctuary but she is a fast learner who loves to engage with training games and toys.

She walks with other dogs and is fine but can react to strange dogs if they push into her, especially if they barks at her.

The sanctuary recommend that Lilly has some professional help as an experienced eye can often pick up on something quite simple.

Lilly is a delightfully friendly dog who would be best suited to a one or two person adult-only home.
