A COLLEGE has announced the launch of its first ever construction apprenticeships thanks to a partnership with McCarthy & Stone.

The Bournemouth & Poole College revealed its first higher education construction apprenticeships.

With vacancies already available with property developing giant McCarthy & Stone, the construction site supervisor apprenticeship promises to provide students with the skills employers are looking for.

Paul Croft, training and early talent manager at McCarthy & Stone, said: “We are really excited to be working in partnership with Bournemouth & Poole College to expand our apprenticeship training provision. We have put together a fantastic programme taking advantage of the excellent training and facilities the college has to offer.

“Our apprentices benefit from a fantastic and rounded introduction into housebuilding, developing their skills in real work, whilst also being paid to study and gain valuable qualifications.

“Construction is an industry with known skills shortages and these apprentices are a key part of our future talent pipeline. They are off to a flying start and will have a bright future. We wish them every success at the start of their career, creating communities that support the wellbeing of older people.”

Diane Grannell, principal of The College, said: “Launching new apprenticeship offerings is always exciting, but opening up construction apprenticeships to Level 4 is a huge leap for our apprenticeship provision, especially considering it is happening with a huge employer.

“We pride ourselves on working with businesses of all sizes and providing excellent opportunities and support for both employers and apprentices.”
