HUNDREDS of families partied in style as they took part in a special Halloween bonanza.

The event, A Summoning in Southbourne, was held in Fisherman’s Walk in Southbourne and was attended by a variety of costume wearing families.

Having turned the pavilion into a dancefloor with face painting marquees and a pumpkin competition to boot, youngsters and their elders danced along to tunes like Werewolves of London, the Ghostbusters theme and even Let It Go from Frozen.

The music was provided by The Hush Club, a bespoke party organiser based in Bournemouth. The owner, known as Kilmo, organised the music for the event free of charge. He said: “We’re just thrilled to be involved in a community event like this, especially after everything we’ve all been through.

“These community events are more important than ever and we’ve seen through the power of music people come together, bringing happiness to everyone.

“The turnout is beyond what anyone expected but it just shows what a strong community Southbourne has. This is so diverse, we have grandparents here and we also have new-born babies and that’s what it’s all about – inclusivity.”

Vampires, witches, and even a pair of turkeys – the event was enjoyed by everyone. Eight-year-old Phoebe Matthews, who dressed as Tinkerbell, said: “It’s been lots of fun and I like the music the most. It’s a great because everyone can dance to it – even old people.”

The event was arranged by Bournemouth Coastal BID and several other businesses in the area.
