A COTTAGE on a famous Dorset street has sold for less than £200,000 at auction.
The Grade II-listed property, on Gold Hill, Shaftesbury, was put up for auction by Symonds & Sampson with a guide price of £150,000.
Auctioneers previously said the three-bedroom property would make an ideal new home, second home or holiday let.
The character cottage is in need of full refurbishment, subject to planning permission. However, some works to extend and refurbish the property have been partly completed.
The property is on the famous Gold Hill, also known as ‘Hovis Hill’ after director Ridley Scott filmed the 'Boy on Bike' television advert for Hovis bread.
The view looking down from the top of the street has also been described as "one of the most romantic sights in England."
During an auction on October 22, the property attracted a number of bids and attention before being sold for £165,000.
