A WOMAN has died from the injuries she sustained in a reported hit-and-run crash in Bournemouth.
A man who was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
As reported, Dorset Police received a report at around 1.35pm on Saturday, October 23, from the ambulance service of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Suffolk Road.
The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 40s – sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It was reported that the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Clarendon Road.
A black Audi A4, believed to be involved in the incident, was located and stopped in the Northamptonshire area in the early hours of Sunday, October 24.
An investigation was launched by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
A 39-year-old man from Derby was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 41-year-old woman from Derby was on suspicion of assisting an offender. The woman has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Providing an update on the evening of Tuesday, October 26, Dorset Police said the pedestrian had died in hospital earlier that day.
Her family has been informed and is being supported by officers.
The 39-year-old man has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of murder and is continuing to assist detectives with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of the MCIT, said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing and I would continue to urge any witnesses or motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please get in touch.
“There will continue to be an increased presence in the area as enquiries are carried out and officers can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
