A MENTAL health charity based in Bournemouth has been given £2,500 by Care South as one of the beneficiaries of the care provider’s Chairman’s 2020 Fund.

Dorset Mind supports people across the county that experiences a mental health problem, helps raise awareness and challenges the stigma around mental health and educates people about the signs and how to spot them.

The charity also provides a range of one-to-one and group support for adults and young people from aged 11 upwards.

Dorset Mind’s CEO Marianne Storey said: “We are delighted with this incredibly generous donation which will help us support people across Dorset.

“We offer a range of safe and inclusive, wellbeing support services that support people when they need it and importantly, they teach people how to live mentally healthy by building their self-esteem and resilience. Our aim is to improve mental wellbeing for everyone.

“Thank you to everyone at Care South for helping us to support even more people across the community.”

The Chairman’s 2020 Fund was set up last year with the aim of supporting ‘Care South’s Friends’ and has been established with the aim of benefitting Care South employees, volunteers and community groups who provide a community service to the groups care homes, care at home offices, clients or residents.

Dorset Mind was presented with cheque for £2,500 by Care South’s chairman, Jane Stichbury, and chief executive, Simon Bird.

He added: “Dorset Mind provides invaluable support options across Dorset and the way the charity helps people is just phenomenal.

“We are very pleased to be able to support and help spread awareness of both the charity and its fantastic work.”
