A BOURNEMOUTH hotel granted approval for demolition is being cleared in an online auction.

The Hotel Riviera at West Cliff Gardens will be replaced by a luxury apartment complex.

Mark Croucher from South Dorsetshire Auctions said the contents included furniture, restaurant equipment, crockery and TV sets alongside more unusual items such as a pair of curtains designed to fit the hotel's expansive Victorian bay windows.

Mr Croucher said: "The hotel has been trading at a loss for some years now and this is an opportunity for the hoteliers to recoup some of their losses. We will do our best to help them, but undoubtedly there will be some bargains to be had for local buyers whether for their businesses or their homes.

"The hotel was well-appointed and well-equipped, but it just all has to go ahead of demolition."

Lots and auction details can be found via South Dorsetshire Auction's website at www.southdorsetauctions.co.uk.

Viewing days are set for Thursday, October 28, 12pm to 7pm and Friday, October 29, from 10am until 5pm, with the auction taking place online only on Saturday, October 30.
