THE Sandford pub on the outskirts of Wareham is to offer more space for diners by adding to the building.
Dorset Council has agreed an application to demolish a rear conservatory and build a rear and side extension with brick and tiles to match the existing building.
The business say that the changes will add about 50 square metres to the pub’s internal floor space – an increase of around 15 per cent on the existing.
Wareham St Martin parish council raised no objection to the proposals and a planning officer, deciding the application, said the extra space would help maintain distance between customers.
A previous application by the pub, earlier in the year, for five eco pods for tourism accommodation was rejected partly on the grounds that they would be within the 400m zone of Morden Bog and Hyde Heath sites of special scientific interest where tourism development is not permitted.
