YEAR 10 students at Lytchett Minister School have been sent home for the rest of the term due to an increase in positive Covid cases.

In an email to parents, Headmaster Andrew Mead said: "Due to a significant increase in the number of staff testing positive for Covid this week, we are unfortunately unable to keep the school open for all students for the last three days of this half term.

"With the number of positive cases in Year 10 on the rise, it seems sensible for the Year 10 group to remain at home from Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd October.

"Lessons will be set for Year 10 classes on Teams.

"All other students should attend school as normal. As a precautionary measure, we would recommend that students wear a face covering in internal communal areas (such as corridors and classrooms).

"We are hopeful that we will be able to welcome back all students after half term."

The school have confirmed that Year 10 students will be working from home for the rest of the week, as of tomorrow.

They have also made the decision to move their end of term cabaret show from this week to Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd November, due to the spike in positive Covid cases.

In a post on social media, the school said: "If you have already bought tickets, they will be transferred over to the new dates. If you cannot make these new dates, please let the school office know by emailing office@lytchett.org.uk and we can arrange a refund for you.

"Apologies for any inconvenience caused."
