THE opening of a new Co-op store has been delayed until next year.
The new store in Barton-on Sea is due to open in the Westcliffe Buildings site, at the junction of Sea Road and Seaward Avenue.
However, although it was announced the store would be ready to welcome customers this year, the developers of the site have had to postpone the opening until the new year.

A spokesman from Co-op said: “The site owner and developer carrying out the works are involved in ongoing discussions with the local council and highways department, and it is Co-op’s understanding that this has resulted in delays.
“The new store is expected to open in the new year.
“Co-op is not in a position to confirm, at this time, an opening date for the new store, however, the team is really looking forward to the opportunity to serve the local community.”
The store will be run using 100 per cent renewable electricity and will include a selection of fresh, healthy products, food-to-go, award winning wines, and everyday essentials.
