A POPULAR Bournemouth nightclub banned its staff members from clubbing in their own time after behaviour didn’t meet the club’s standards.

Cameo nightclub in Fir Vale Road implemented a temporary ban for staff members after a small number hadn’t displayed behaviour the club expected from their team.

A petition stated to have been created by Cameo staff members was launched online in light of the ban.

A spokesperson for Cameo said: “We instigated a temporary ban, which has since been lifted, as a small number of staff hadn’t displayed the levels of behaviour that we expect from our team when they are in the club in their own time.”

New plans for Cameo nightclub were announced last month following a major planning application for the redevelopment of Glen Fern Road.

As previously reported, the Fortitudo plans include 350 apartments available to rent and 250 apartments for sale, a 40,000 square foot nightclub, a 36,000 square foot ten-pin bowling facility, 15,000 square feet of bars and restaurants, a 20,000 square foot cinema, a 120 bedroom hotel and a 600 capacity multi-storey car park.

The existing car park facility would be demolished and commercial buildings in Glen Fern Road which house businesses including Cameo, Norwegian Wood Cafe, a garage and Oasis Fun would go.

Fortitudo says it is in ‘active talks’ with a number of the existing businesses to see if they can form part of the development.
