A HAMPSHIRE pensioner has died after being rescued from a blazing bungalow.

Firefighters from Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Lymington, New Milton and St Mary's were called to Linden Way, Pennington, at around 7.30pm yesterday.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used hosereel jets to put the fire out. A ventilation fan was used to clear smoke.

One man was rescued from the property by firefighters and was given emergency care at the scene before being placed in the care of South Central Ambulance.

Firefighters were on the scene until almost 10pm.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "We were called to an address on Linden Way in Pennington at 7.29pm yesterday following reports of a sudden death of a 84-year-old man.

"His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this time. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
