A TRIP to the pub is seen as a quintessential part of British culture and as a nation of dog lovers it's always better when pet owners can take their four-legged friend along.
Of course not all pubs are pet friendly, but there are plenty of boozers across Dorset who open their arms to dogs and here is a list of just some you can find in the county.
Risaro at the Coventry Arms, Corfe Mullen
This riverside restaurant and bar in Corfe Mullen claim to be ‘super dog friendly’. Dogs can play in the water while their human companions enjoy a drink on the decking. On offer is a variety of beers including local brews, wine and soft drinks. Those who fancy some food can choose from a variety of food including smoked meats such as 12 hour smoked brisket and five hour smoked ribs.
The Black Dog Inn, Broadmayne
Near Dorchester The Black Dog Inn welcomes doggies with staff said to make a fuss of any four-legged friends. Dogs are allowed in the bar but not in the restaurant and preferably on a lead. As with most pubs and bars on this list the venue offers a variety of food and drink for humans too.

The Love Branch, Wimborne
This dog friendly pub offers its own ice cream for any pets. They also serve food and drink for their owners too. Furry friends are welcome in both the bar area and the garden.
The Fisherman's Haunt, Christchurch
In Christchurch, at The Fisherman's Haunt, four-legged companions are welcomed and are offered a biscuit on entry. The venue serves a variety of food including alternatives to typical pub grub.
The Fox Inn, Ansty
In the heart of Dorset The Fox Inn allows dogs outside and at the bar area. The pub prefers dogs kept on a lead, but the boozer does offer treats for them which are readily available. A selection of wine, beer and food is all on offer.

The Three Tuns, Bransgore
Located in Bransgore, The Three Tuns opens its doors to four-legged companions with doggy treats provided and plenty of human food is available too. The pets are welcome in the bar area, garden and beer patio.

In the heart of a conversation area The Red Lion in Beaminster allows furry companions inside their venue with plenty of great places to walk all around. The venue serves real ales and home cooked food.
The Jolly Sailor, Poole
One of Poole’s iconic quay-side pubs, The Jolly Sailor allows dogs in its bar area. The boozer offers a variety of drink and plenty of food including pub classics.

Doggies at the Anchor Inn are welcomed in the bar area. The pub offers great food close to the coast. Reviews online say the pub is very dog friendly.
St Peter’s Finger, Lytchett Minster
In the heart of Lytchett Minster is St Peter’s Finger which allows dogs inside in its large bar area and outside. The pub offers a variety of food and drink for pet owners to delve into too.
