A TRIP to the pub is seen as a quintessential part of British culture and as a nation of dog lovers it's always better when pet owners can take their four-legged friend along.

Of course not all pubs are pet friendly, but there are plenty of boozers across Dorset who open their arms to dogs and here is a list of just some you can find in the county.

This riverside restaurant and bar in Corfe Mullen claim to be ‘super dog friendly’. Dogs can play in the water while their human companions enjoy a drink on the decking. On offer is a variety of beers including local brews, wine and soft drinks. Those who fancy some food can choose from a variety of food including smoked meats such as 12 hour smoked brisket and five hour smoked ribs.

 

The Black Dog Inn, Broadmayne

Near Dorchester The Black Dog Inn welcomes doggies with staff said to make a fuss of any four-legged friends. Dogs are allowed in the bar but not in the restaurant and preferably on a lead. As with most pubs and bars on this list the venue offers a variety of food and drink for humans too.

The Love Branch, Wimborne

This dog friendly pub offers its own ice cream for any pets. They also serve food and drink for their owners too. Furry friends are welcome in both the bar area and the garden.

 

The Fisherman's Haunt, Christchurch

One of Poole’s iconic quay-side pubs, The Jolly Sailor allows dogs in its bar area. The boozer offers a variety of drink and plenty of food including pub classics.
