DORSET-BASED Maggie survived another week on the Great British Bake Off as the contestants took on bread week.
The 10 contestants tried to prove their ability to the judges by creating a signature perfectly baked focaccia, 15 even breadsticks in the technical and a themed, milk bread showstopper.
Rochica became the third contestant to leave the tent while Italian-born Guiseppe clinched star baker.
However, Maggie did not escape without harsh criticism from Paul Hollywood on her classic focaccia.
Paul picked up the fociaccia and when the ingredients fell off said: “It’s very soft on the top which sort of defeats the object a little bit.
“I do like the flavours and I love the thyme in there and maybe needs a little more mixing.
“Overall I think it’s a decent focaccia.”
It came a week after Paul reduced Maggie to tears with his comments about her childhood beach house playset made of biscuits.
On her reaction, Maggie said: “It’s quite silly really but when I’ve watched people on Bake Off crying I’ve thought, ‘for goodness sake’. It’s only a cake and suddenly it’ all changed.”
