TWO popular tourist destinations in Bournemouth and Christchurch have received recognition as winners in TripAdvisors 2021 Travellers’ Choice awards.

Highcliffe Castle and the Russell-Cotes Arts Gallery and Museum have both been named as victors in the Things to Do/Historic Sites category.

Throughout a challenging year, two two attractions stood out to visitors and provided amazing experiences despite unprecedented circumstances.

Cllr Mohan Iyengar said: “These two fabulous venues have different and distinctive styles, and to have both as award-winners says something about the diverse history and culture across our wonderful area.

“The staff that operate these venues deserve the recognition for their hard work and effort during such a challenging period for the arts and cultural sector.

“We take great pride in these sites and look forward to them succeeding well into the future.”

Highcliffe Castle is situated on the cliff top at Highcliffe, Dorset.

Built in the 1830s it is described as being one of the most important surviving houses of the Romantic and Picturesque style of architecture.

The significance of the Castle is recognised nationally by its Grade 1 listed status, and today it is open to visitors, in addition to hosting both weddings and events.

Bournemouth Echo: Highcliffe Castle has been recognised as one of the 2021 Travellers’ Choice award winners in the Things to Do/Historic Sites category.

Regarded as one of the most fascinating historic houses in England, the Russell-Cotes was the home of two Victorian collectors and travel enthusiasts, Sir Merton and Lady Annie Russell-Cotes.

There is a regular programme of exhibitions featuring both art and artefacts from the Russell-Cotes own extensive collections, and talks, tours and events take place throughout the year.
