MORE than 260 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across Dorset over the last 24 hours.

Latest government data revealed 261 cases were confirmed in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Sunday, September 19.

The BCP Council area recorded 112 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 44,081.

The Dorset Council area recorded 149 new cases, meaning 24,432 cases have been recorded in the conurbation since the start of the pandemic.

In the seven days leading up to July 14, the latest rolling seven-day period, 842 cases were recorded in the BCP Council area, giving a rolling infection rate of 212.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The rolling rate in the Dorset Council area was 122.7 per 100,000 with 358 cases recorded in a week.

Elsewhere, the New Forest recorded 112 new cases, taking its total to 11,650. The rolling rate was 199.3 per 100,000 people.
