THE number of senior officers leaving BCP Council for other jobs is no more than expected – according to council leader Drew Mellor.
Answering a public question which claimed the loss of senior officers was causing ‘disruption’ to council business he said the numbers leaving were consistent with turn-over from the predecessor councils.
He told a full council meeting on Tuesday that it was also to be expected to see some movement of staff after the pandemic, coupled with a period of reorganisation as the three previous councils bedded into becoming one.
Paying tribute to all council staff for their work during the pandemic and the internal changes taking place he said he remained confident that the council would continue to recruit some of the ‘best and brightest’ council staff in the country to drive progress in the area.
Several senior posts at the council are currently being filled by staff acting in an interim role while recruitment continues.
