A MAN has been fined by the courts for exceeding the speed limit in Poole Harbour while using a jet ski.

Andrew Clarke, aged 58, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on September 8.

The defendant, whose address was given as Evering Avenue, Poole, pleaded guilty to a single charge of breaching the Poole Harbour Byelaws.

The court heard that he was the master of the personal watercraft on May 31 and caused it to travel in excess of 10 knots through the water without the consent of the harbour master.

Magistrates handed Clarke a fine for £276 along with a requirement to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £750 prosecution costs.

Court papers said the defendant was not present at the hearing and the guilty plea was entered by a solicitor on his behalf.
