A BOY was taken to hospital with a head injury after being struck with a baseball bet.

Officers from Dorset Police have launched an investigation over the incident, which happened in Poole on Saturday evening.

The force received a report of an altercation that occurred at around 7.35pm on September 11 at the junction of Dewlish Close and Sherborn Crescent, Canford Heath.

It was reported that during the altercation a 14-year-old boy was struck with a baseball bat and sustained a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following enquiries, a 27-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was subsequently released without charge.

Investigations Officer Stevie Tiernan, of Dorset Police, said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to please come forward.

“I would also urge any motorists who were driving in the area and have dashcam fitted to please check their footage for anything relevant.”
