The cooler weather is starting to set in, but there are still plenty of events and activities taking place around the county.

If you’re stuck for something to do this weekend the Daily Echo has got you covered with a list of some of the events taking place over the forthcoming weekend.

 

Race for Life, Poole

Bournemouth Echo: Race for Life in Baiter Park, Poole..

Returning for the first time since the pandemic, the Race for Life comes to Poole this Saturday, September 11, to raise money for Cancer Research. Events will include 3k, 5k, 10k races and a Pretty Muddy obstacle course. The race starts at Baiter Park with the first kicking off from 12.30pm. Anyone wishing to sign up can still do so via the Race for Life website, where adult admission prices to participate start from £14.99. Spectators can of course cheer on from the sidelines.

Contenders Festival

 

Coming to Parley Lane Hurn, near to the airport, is the first instalment of Contender festival; a brand new three day event of adventure, food and fitness. The festival will feature a custom-built obstacle course where several events will take place. There will also be taster sessions across 12 different fitness and wellbeing disciplines. Also on show will be a stage featuring live musicians, groups, schools in the day and DJs on Friday and Saturday evening. Tickets are split between bronze, silver and gold levels starting at £12. Swanage Folk Festival

 

Bournemouth Echo: The Swanage Folk Festival

Over in Swanage from Friday, September 10, until Sunday, September 12, is the town’s folk festival. The event will see a weekend of concerts, traditional dance displays, workshops, children's activities, sessions, a craft fair and trade stalls based around the town centre and seafront. Headliners are set to include Joe Boden and Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys. Adult concert day tickets start from £21 and are available via the festival’s website.

Stompin’ on the Quomps

Bournemouth Echo: The 2019 Stompin on the Quomps event takes place in Christchurch..

Stompin’ on the Quomps is a music festival on Christchurch Quay featuring an afternoon and evening of jazz and big band music across two stages. The event takes place from 12pm until 10pm, with a recommended minimum donation of £5 for those attending. Also on offer will be a variety of food and drinks stalls for people to purchase snacks from.

 

That’ll be the day

 

At the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on both Friday, September 10, and Saturday, September 11, the ‘That’ll be the day’ will be taking place. The show is a UK wide touring Rock and Roll variety performance which will feature three hours of entertainment and hits. Both nights the event will begin at 7.30pm, with tickets starting from £13.50 on the BH Live website.
