ONE of the largest shops in Bournemouth town centre is set to shut its doors for good this weekend.

Retail fashion store H&M in Commercial Road will close on Sunday, September 12, a pattern which the Bournemouth Town Centre BID previously said was being repeated up and down the country.

The store will close on September 12, with a spokesperson directing people to the Castlepoint store.

A spokesperson for H&M said: "I can confirm that H&M Bournemouth is closing on the 12th of September.

"At H&M we continuously review our store portfolio, the decision to close this particular store was part of the long-term strategy to ensure we are offering our customers the best possible shopping experience in the right locations.

"Customers can continue to shop for quality fashion at the best price at our nearby Castlepoint store or online."

It has not been confirmed how many jobs will be lost as a result of the closure.

The termination of H&M comes amid a celebratory week for Bournemouth as Bobby's Department Store opened its doors on Thursday, September 9.

The arrival of the store will create 260 new jobs, Verve Properties said, and would be transformational for the Square.
