A MAN arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the sudden death of another man in Bournemouth will face no further police action.

Dorset Police was made aware by the ambulance service of death at an address in Malvern Road at 8.30pm on Monday, March 22.

It was reported that at around 6.30pm an altercation had occurred at the address. A short time later the man became unwell and the ambulance service was called.

A 55-year-old Bournemouth man was pronounced dead. His next of kin was informed and the coroner was notified.

A 57-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Following enquiries by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) and a post-mortem examination, he was released under investigation pending the outcome of various laboratory tests and for the cause of death to be determined.

Detective Inspector Simon Huxter, of MCIT, said: “The laboratory tests have now come back and support the initial findings of the post-mortem that that the death was not the result of an assault and it is not being treated as suspicious.

“The man who was arrested has been formally released from under investigation and will face no further police action.

“A detailed report, outlining the police investigation, will now be submitted to HM Coroner.”
