BOURNEMOUTH Mosque has been refused permission to build a two storey extension adjacent to the front of its main building.
The Winton Jamei Centre trustees said the extension at the Cranmer Road site was for a store room at ground floor level and office space on the first floor. The site is adjacent to the main building and was last used by a refrigeration company.
The mosque has been converted from an old chapel and factory buildings and sits among mainly commercial buildings in the road.
Planning officers decided the proposed building would be out of keeping with the street scene and would be ‘harmful’ to the appearance of the main building.
