ON SUNDAY morning we were returning from Wimborne, approaching the roundabout.

We heard an ambulance some distance behind us. It overtook us by the garage so we were unable to pull over due to cones protecting work in progress.

Traffic in front of us had no option but to drive along the cycle path to allow it to pass.

We were amused to see a car parked on either the footpath or cycle lane, then realised a TV presenter was doing an interview – just as the ambulance was negotiating the space alongside.

It was interesting to note that this was not included in the evening’s program, too close to home perhaps?

The person being interviewed claimed the cycle path needed to be wide as it is two-way and “cyclists might wobble”.

So why is it necessary to repeat the same fiasco on the other side?

One wonders if it was thought up by the same designers of the ‘magic roundabout’ nearby. Determined to cause traffic chaos.
