BOURNEMOUTH’S latest entrepreneur has told the Daily Echo all about her new cocktail delivery service after a licensing panel approved her business.

Hannah Skelsey, 25, has declared that “all systems are go” as she begins to launch Cuban Cocktails from her home in Redhill.

Hannah conceived the idea for a local luxury cocktail delivery service at the start of lockdown, when pubs and restaurants were forced to close.

I'm excited to start this journey"

Earlier this month, plans were put before a licensing panel which granted permission to provide alcohol via a home delivery service.

“I’m just beyond thrilled with the outcome and can’t wait to get started,” said Hannah. “It was nice that the panel were on board with what I’m trying to do and I’m excited to start this journey.”

Hannah revealed that Cuban Cocktails is due to launch on Friday, August 20, and that she initially did not believe approval would be given.

She said: “I actually didn’t think I’d get it. There was a bit of opposition so of course you worry. Now that we have the permission, all systems are go. I need to set up the website, finalise the menus, pricing and lots more but I am confident it’ll all be done in time.”

Prior to the hearing, Redhill and Northbourne Cllr Jackie Edwards submitted a letter of objection, stating: “There are several premises close by selling alcohol and with the park opposite I would not want to see an increase in anti-social behaviour.”

Cllr Edwards declined to comment on the decision.

Cuban Cocktails will offer nine traditional cocktail options and Hannah says that a signature drink is “in the works”. Also offered is a ‘Be your own bartender’ option, where customers can choose one shot of vodka, rum or gin to be combined with as many mixers as desired, with an additional choice of the mix being blended, iced, stirred or shaken.

Hannah said Instagram would be used for customers to vote for their favourite cocktails, with the top three voted to be on a monthly specials list.

The business has a limit of three orders per customer per day with a maximum of four drinks per order. However, Hannah says that larger orders for social events are possible given enough notice.

She said she will maintain her full-time job in admin and that she will primarily run the business on Friday and Saturdays from 6pm-10.30pm in the Bournemouth and Poole area.

Her aim is to move the business out of her home on Redhill Drive and into an industrial unit, business permitting.

ID will be required on delivery.
