A DORSET beach has been named the best for naturists in an inaugural set of awards.

National Trust-owned Studland beach has been voted the best naturist beach in the UK in the Naturist Travel Awards.

The site has been welcoming naturists for more than 100 years, a one kilometre stretch of Knoll Beach marked out as an area where clothing is optional

The National Trust works closely with partners including Studland Beach Users Action Group, British Naturism and the local police to keep Studland safe and family-friendly.

The awards were launched to recognise excellence in the international naturist travel industry. With a focus on venues, destinations and companies, they have been voted for online by naturists worldwide, and will become an annual event.

Organised by specialist website Naturist Travel, the awards have been supported by other leading organisations within the naturist industry, including H&E Naturist magazine, The Naturist Action Group, and naturist tour operator Chalfont Holidays.
