AFRICA Comes to Bournemouth showcased African and Caribbean culture in a three-day event, bringing local and national talent to the area.

On Friday, the association hosted a festival launch party ‘Africa Comes to the Grove’ live on stage with We Afro Tallawah performing at the Grove Tavern, Southbourne.

On Saturday and Sunday, the event came to the Triangle in Bournemouth Town Centre, for two-days of craft-making, workshops, spoken work, music, storytelling and African Caribbean food and drink.

Event founder Ebi Sosseh said: “It’s been going well, we’ve been ducking and diving the weather but I’m really happy to see all the exciting and exotic things on show. We’ve got Nyema Kalfon, she appeared on the Voice, she’s going to sing a bit later on and the smell of the food has been bringing people in.”

Umoja Arts Network, an African Caribbean Association based in Bournemouth, created this annual event to empower the local African and Caribbean community and foster better relations with other communities.
