IT'S the busy New Forest pub with a chatty and civilised atmosphere where locals and visitors rub along happily.

Cadnam has been an important crossroads between Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole since medieval times and The White Hart was once used as a stop-over venue on the Cornwall to London road when people would heard geese all of that unfathomably long distance.

These days it's a traditional pub with superb local beers and food, a stunning beer garden, play equipment for the kids and with a host of events set to return as it emerges stronger from its Covid closures.

Assistant manager Scott Andrews told the Daily Echo: "Throughout the pub, you will find all those elements that make the British pub feel special; open fires, bookcases, good old furniture, prints, rugs, and oak floors, but there is also a lighter touch with a garden room extension, plenty of plants and flowers and lots of daylight.

"You’ll find a really buzzy, chatty, and civilised atmosphere, with an interesting mix of locals and visitors all rubbing along happily without the blight of wide-screen television, gaming machines, or intrusive music."

Daily Echo:

The large beer garden and patio boasts 25 tables, both in the sunshine and shade of a canopy of trees.

It's the perfect spot for beer festivals and live music which the pub's management team are keen to return to post-pandemic.

Monthly wine and gin tastings were always popular with locals too.

Bitter and ales from Flack's in Romsey and Hop Back Brewery in Downton are some of the most popular drinks, alongside Mermaid Gin from the Isle of Wight.

Daily Echo:

Quality, fresh ingredients are used for classic British dishes and those from around the world. Menu favourites include the pub's famous crispy beef salad, as well as deep fried cod in beer batter, pork and leek sausages, Malaysian curry and rump steak sandwich.

"We're known for the best food in Cadnam, our friendly crew and our cosy decor," adds Scott.
