FIRE crews rushed to a house in Bransgore which was struck by lightning on Saturday morning.

Three crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service, with support from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Bransgore shortly after 2.30am.

A spokesperson for HIWFRS said: “HIWFRS Firefighters from New Milton, Ringwood, Beaulieu, with support from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, were called to Bransgore at 02.31 Saturday morning after a house was struck by lightning.

“Four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and one main jet were used to extinguish the fire in the roof. The British Red Cross have been in contact with the occupier to offer their support.

“The stop message came in at 03.32.”
