POLICE rushed to a residential area of Boscombe following reports of a man with a knife who was smashing windows at a house.
Officers were called to Hamilton Road at 10.30pm on Sunday, with witnesses reporting a number of marked and unmarked police vehicles in the area.
A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: "Officers attended and located a man inside a property on the road.
"At around 11pm a man aged in his 50s from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and was taken to hospital to receive the appropriate care.
"He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
