THE future of developments across the BCP Council will be guided by Local Plan, which is currently being formulated by local authority.

The next step of the process in creating the Local Plan is the issues and options consultation.

This will be launched in a matter of weeks, subject to a sign off from cabinet members at a meeting later this month.

A draft of this consultation document outlines that 33,000 homes could be built in total across the conurbation at 120 identified sites.

However, this still leaves the BCP Council area around 9,000 short of the current housing target for the period from 2023 to 2038.
