CONTINUED anti-social behaviour has led to a Poole flat being closed, including to its tenant, for a period of three months.

BCP Council secured the closure order for 35 Cinnamon Lane at Poole Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.

This action on the Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) property comes just eight months after an initial three-month partial closure order was put in place by the courts.

Cllr May Haines, BCP Council portfolio holder for community safety, said “This sends a message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated and we are working with partner agencies to identify a longer term solution for this address.”

As reported, partial closure orders were secured for 32 and 35 Cinnamon Lane following “on-going and enduring anti-social behaviour”.

This measure, which is being used increasingly by BCP Council, initially allowed the occupants to remain in their homes so the authorities could work with them to successfully sustain their tenancies.

However, continued anti-social behaviour at 35 Cinnamon Lane led to the recent action by the authorities.

A spokeswoman for PHP said this step was taken “to prevent future anti-social behaviour” and “give residents much needed respite”.

“This current order was obtained on June 28, under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and prohibits anyone, including the tenant from entering the property for a period of 3 months,” said the spokeswoman. “Agents and staff of BCP local authority are permitted onto the premises for property management and maintenance.

“We would like to thank residents for their support and we hope it will reassure the community that we are listening, and we will work in partnership and with the support of other agencies to take appropriate action when they report anti-social behaviour to us.”

Cllr Haines said securing the order involved working closely with PHP and Dorset Police after “significant nuisance and disorder” had been reported by residents in the area.

She added: “We continue to ensure positive action is taken where necessary to resolve issues and safeguard our community.”
