A MAN who stole four bikes across Bournemouth and breached a suspended sentence order has been jailed for a year.

Benjamin William Jones, 37, was put behind bars by magistrates sitting in Poole on June 24.

Jones, whose address was given as Westover Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft.

On February 25, he stole a woman's bicycle from the bike rack at the BH2 complex in Exeter Crescent.

He then took a man's electric mountain bike on April 26.

The court heard that Jones stole two further bikes on May 26 and June 11, respectively.

Three of these offences put him in breach of a suspended sentence order made on April 21 for crimes of theft and going equipped.

A series of consecutive custodial terms were issued by the bench, which totalled 12 months' imprisonment.

The defendant was also ordered to pay a total of £1,686.36 compensation.
