MORE than one million Covid-19 vaccines have been given out across Dorset thanks to the tireless efforts of the county's medical staff and volunteers.

This magnificent feat now brings the total number of doses given out across Dorset to a staggering 1,001,740, according to the latest NHS data.

Figures released by NHS England show that a total of 480,703 vaccines have been given across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, by Saturday, June 26.

There have been 266,284 first doses given across BCP, with 213,570 residents also receiving their second jab.

In wider Dorset there have been 284,365 first doses given and 236,672 residents have received their second dose - a total of 521,037.

Of people aged 80 and over in the county, 57,947 people have had their first dose and 55,887 people have had both doses.

In the age range 75 to 79, 38,599 people have had two doses.

Of people aged 70 to 74, 50,774 have had both doses, as have 45,295 people aged 65 to 69 and 48,532 people aged 60 to 64.

In the age bracket 55 to 59 years old, 51,341 residents have had both vaccines, 47,343 people aged between 50 to 54 have and 35,657 45 to 49-year-olds have had their dose.

A total of 26,935 people aged 40 to 44 have had both doses with the number at 16,543 for 35 to 39-year-olds meanwhile 13,041 people aged 30 to 34 have received both jabs.

Of the people aged 25 to 29, 9,694 people have had both jabs and of under 25s 10,601 people have had both vaccines in Dorset.

There have been 6,944,106 doses given in the South West and 64,474,260 across the whole of England.
